wiggins_shirley_willoughbyShirley Anne Willoughby Wiggins, 78, of Blacksburg, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at her home. She was born in Brantley’s Grove Community, Hertford County, N.C., September 29, 1936. Shirley was the daughter of the late Herbert Adams and Mary Williams Willoughby.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William C. Wiggins Sr.; a daughter Dee Wiggins Hopkins and husband, Tim, of Blacksburg; two sons, William C. Wiggins Jr. and wife, Belinda, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and James David Wiggins and wife, Lisa, of Cary, NC.; nine grandchildren, Will Hopkins, Anne Scott Hopkins, Clay Hopkins, Rebecca Wiggins, Nathan Wiggins, Rachel Wiggins, Emily Wiggins, Abi Wiggins and Trip Wiggins; sister, Alease Dilday of Pennsylvania.

Shirley was a member of The First Baptist Church in Grifton, N.C., where she was active in the ministry of Samaritan’s Purse-Operation Christmas Child.

While spending 48 years in the Grifton community, Shirley was an active member of the Grifton Garden Club and she loved playing bridge in multiple clubs with her many friends.

The family will meet for a private ceremony officiated by Chaplain David Kent at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Blacksburg. A Memorial Service will follow at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship 11 a.m. July 2, 2015. Services at the church will be officiated by Pastor Chris Faith.
