Wickline, Anthony Gillett

Anthony “Wick” Gillett Wickline, 67 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Anthony was born on July 26, 1956, in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Gillett Grey Wickline and Lorraine Walls Wickline.

Wick was a 1974 graduate of Giles High School, and was forever a Spartan at heart. He started to play music in his teens, which ignited a life long passion playing bass professionally in many bands throughout and across the United States. He lived and breathed music. He also adored the wonder of childhood and tradition, and always remained a child at heart – much to the joy of his grandchildren.

His other passions in life were his family, his smoker grill, movies, travel, and his membership with the local library. He had the best dad jokes, always wore a smile, and is called “best friend” by so many, for he was loyal, he was kind, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Mariea K. Wickline of Pearisburg, daughter, Virginia Anne Aviles (Eric) of Salem, step-daughter, Jessica Kinsey of Orangeburg, SC, step-son, James Kinsey of Orangeburg, SC, 4 grandchildren, Averi and Kaislei Kinsey, Lorraine and Silas Aviles and sister, Jacquelyn Lee of St. Albans, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev Doug Armstrong officiating with burial following the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
