Waverley “Hoppy” or “Goat” Clifton Whittaker 86 of Rich Creek, VA. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Hoppy was born on December 8, 1935, in Ripplemead and was a son of the late Clifton Whittaker and Margaret Fillinger Whittaker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Jerry Michael Whittaker.

Hoppy was a graduate of Narrows High School. He was an avid sports fan and loved staying fit. He loved spending daily time with his Hometown Restaurant family and friends and spending time with “Bella,” his canine friend. Hoppy was a retired employee of Radford Arsenal with 25 years of service.

He is survived by 1 sister, Linda Howard of Rich Creek, 1 brother, Myron J. Whittaker (Brenda) of Pearisburg, 3 nieces, special niece Ann H. Fisher of Rich Creek with whom he lived with, Kimberly H. Rose of Princeton, WV, Tammy Shrewsberry (Anthony) of Pearisburg, 1 nephew, James Howard, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Cordell, OK, 3 special great nephews, Cody Fisher of Narrows, Riley Fisher of Rich Creek, Austin Shrewsberry (Kortney) of Hampton, 3 special great nieces, Samantha Wickline Belcher (Andy) of Princeton Katie Shrewsberry of Pearisburg, Nikki Wickline of Ballard, WV and very special friend, Richard “Dickey” French of Rich Creek.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel at 1pm with burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows.
