Whittaker, Melvin Eugene Sr.

Melvin Eugene Whittaker, Sr. of Sink Hole Lane in Pearisburg, died Wednesday morning October 19, 2005 at his home after a long illness.

Born in Bluff City on April 5, 1938, he was a son of Dessie Hollins Whittaker of Pearisburg, and the late Joe Lee Whittaker. He had been employed with Giles Memorial Hospital and VPI&SU before he retired.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Allen Whittaker; and a sister, Christine Whittaker. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Dessie Hollins Whittaker of the home; a sister, Virginia A. Cruise of Pearisburg; a son, Eugene Whittaker, Jr. of Pearisburg; a grandson, Brandon Whittaker of Pearisburg; a nephew and his wife, Myron and Brinda Cruise of Newport.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time for services.
