Whittaker, Eugene Tuck

Eugene Tuck Whittaker, 82, of Newport, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the home of his daughter, Susie Ann Whittaker. He was born May 26, 1923 in Giles County, Va., the son of the late William H. and Della Riggs Whittaker.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Mary Whittaker, Fairlawn, Christopher Dale and Michelle Whittaker, Roanoke; two daughters, Susie Ann Whittaker, Newport and Caroline Shepherd, Elliston; grandchildren, Michael and Steven Whittaker; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with the Rev. Bill Perkins officiating. Burial in the Gordon Cemetery on Guinea Mountain near Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
