Whittaker, Donald Edward

Donald Edward Whittaker, 76 of Pearisburg, Virginia departed this life April 18, 2023 in the care of Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. Born in Giles County on June 30, 1946, he was a son of the late Elias and Evelyn Price Whittaker.

Donald’s first love was the family that he and his wife, Patricia Stanley Whittaker would have the privilege of having. He would provide for his family as a truck driver or Hobo Trucking. However, he did have a second love in playing his music. He was a proud member of Shades of Bluegrass Band. You could hear him play frequently at Fiddlers and Banjos in Roanoke, Virginia. He was also the leader for The Giles County Music Association. He was an active participant in the church in which he practiced his faith which is Pearisburg Church of God of Prophecy. If he was looking for one more respite activity, you could find Donald near a fishing bank trying to catch the next big one.

In addition to Donald’s parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Whittaker, and sisters Linda Conley, and Marlene Fields.

Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife, Patricia Stanley Whittaker; sons, Anthony Whittaker (Sylvia) of Pearisburg, and Timothy Whittaker of Pearisburg; a daughter, Christie Price of Pearisburg; grandchildren, Cody Allen Price, Emily Price, Isaac Price, Joshua Whittaker, and Daniel Whittaker; and sisters, Brenda Gilmer of Roanoke, and Teresa Radford of Floyd.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Eddie Kendall and Bill Brown officiating. Services will conclude in the Newport Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
