Dolly Marie (Linkous) Whitlock, 74, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Whitlock was born on September 5, 1935, in Blacksburg, to Clinton and Nellie (Wheeling) Linkous. She was an employee of Vernon H. Baker & Associates for 41 years, and was still working there at the time of her death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Whitlock; and four brothers, Edgar W. Linkous, Harry A. Linkous, H.B. Linkous, and Odell Linkous. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah T. Whitlock, of Berkeley, Calif.; her son, Stan Whitlock and his wife, Becky, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Olivia and Bianca Whitlock, of Kingsport; six sisters and their husbands, Maxine and Keith Fugate, of Loretto, Tenn., Mattie and Charles Orange, of Blacksburg, Mary and Jim Heath, of Blacksburg, Gladys and Gary Cook, of Longshop, Va., Hilda and Nolan Montgomery, of Newport, Va., and Arlene and Eddie Clyburn, of Salem, Va.; two brothers and their wives, Allen and Brenda Linkous, of Longshop, and Leon and Bonnie Linkous, of Bradshaw, Va.; sister-inlaw, Lucille Linkous, of Lexington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marvin Otto officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pall bearers will be friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to please make charitable contributions in memory of Mrs. Whitlock to the organization of their choice.
