Blake Hall Whitlock, 105, of Shawsville, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from the Pheasant Ridge Nursing Center in Roanoke.

Blake was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dennis R. Whitlock; daughter, Evelyn W. Sisson and her husband, Julius; daughter-in-law, Janet W. Whitlock; and a great-great-granddaughter, Cameron Blake Firebaugh.

Blake is survived by her son, D. Roger Whitlock of Woodbury, TN; two daughters, Mary Alice Firebaugh and her husband, Leonard of Roanoke, VA, and Nellie Jo St.Clair and her husband, Fred of Morristown, TN; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Blake retired as manager of Shawsville Schools Cafeteria after 18 years of employment. She is remembered by her students for her homemade rolls and peanut butter pinwheel candy. Prior to her illness, she was an active member of the Crockett Springs United Methodist Church.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Richfield Retirement Community and to Pheasant Ridge Nursing Center for their devotion, genuine concern and gentle competence that brought dignity, comfort and love to her during her declining years and even in death.

The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 2 p.m., in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Emory Tarpley officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville.
