White, William Edward
William Edward White, 95, of Whitethorne, died Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on September 14, 1927, to the late Arthur and Nettie Sheltman White. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn White, and his second wife, Bessie Handy White.
He is survived by a nephew, Juel Jr. (Angie) Albert; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Albert, Crystal (Jason) Boyle, Justyna, Wyatt, Luke, Tanner, Riley, Dawson, Layla, and Lena, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Willie served two tours in the US Navy during the Korean War, mainly aboard the US Marias AO S7. He was a long-standing member of the American Legion. He was born and raised at the Whitethorne Train Station and spent his life serving the Longshop Community. He was a lifetime member of Shiloh Lutheran Church; he helped build and found the McCoy Longshop Fire Department. He was a member of the Golden Years Club for many years. He was a loving and faithful servant of the Lord, he loved golf, fishing, gardening, and his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Shiloh Lutheran Church with Minister Martin Paulson officiating. Interment will follow in the Albert Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM prior to the service. The family would like to thank Intrepid Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Albert Family Cemetery, c/o Juel Albert, or to Longshop McCoy Fire Department and Rescue Squad

I knew William for many years, first as my boss at Electro Tec , then as my brother in law when he married my sister Bessie. I loved him. Rest in peace ❤️✝️

I worked with him (and Juel) at Highland Volkswagen. Both are very kind special people! I have thought about them many years and really enjoyed knowing and working them!
