White, Peggy Jane O’Dell

amem-lilacs2The Angels in Heaven were celebrating Tuesday May 5, 2015, as Peggy Jane O’Dell White went home to be with her Lord and Savior, being reunited with her family and so many of her special friends.

Peggy was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Snowville, Va., the daughter of the late Willie and Bessie O’Dell. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie A. O’Dell Jr.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 48 years, Jerry D. White of Pulaski, Va.; the daughter she adored, Kimberly Shea White Tickle and husband Derek of Dublin, Va.; two beautiful grandchildren, Joshua Whitman Tickle and Emma Jane Tickle of Dublin; sisters Janice O. Anderson of Dublin and Betty O. Surratt and husband Lewis Surratt of Bristol, Va.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends who were like family to her.

Peggy was a loving wife, mother and Maw-Maw. She retired from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management with more than 30 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski, and was involved in various community service programs. Peggy was known for her great sense of humor, giving heart and love for others, but most of all her love for the Lord. Through her 10-year battle with Parkinson’s, she never wavered in her faith in God, and shared her love for Him with all she came in contact with.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at the church. Flowers are appreciated, and memorial gifts can be sent to the First United Methodist Church at 135 Fourth St. NW Pulaski, VA 24301.
