White, Margie Irene

Margie Irene White, 74, of Radford, Va., departed this world on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, to be with her Heavenly Father. Margie was born on October 10, 1938, to the late Robert and Ruby Thompson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gomie Ednie White; three brothers, Charles Thompson, Robert “Junior” Thompson, and Edward “Peewee” Thompson; one sister, Annie Tickle; and one daughter, Caroline Sue White.

Margie worked for 29 years as a cloth grader for New River Textiles. She is survived by her sons, William (Edna) White, of Roanoke, Gary White, of Belspring, and Richard (Mary) White, of Dublin; one daughter, Rhonda Simpkins, of Christiansburg; a sister- in-law, Mickey Thompson, of Radford; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Carilion New River Valley Hospice-especially Vanessa, Alta, and Catherine-for the help and comfort they gave Margie during her final days. The family would also like to thank Margie’s special friend, caregiver, and “adopted” daughter, Shelly Chafin, for the constant love, help and support. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services that will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Walker officiating.
