White, Lee Straus

Lee Straus White, 85, of Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Sunday evening, August 23, 2009, in the care of Riverview Nursing home in Rich Creek. Born in Peonea Springs, Loundon County, Va., on December 1, 1923, he was a son of the late Beverly Walton and Bessie Fuller White.

Lee worked most of his adult life on shrimp boats in The Gulf of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Beverly White Jr.; and his sisters, Hortense Robertson and Margaret Sharp. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Alberta (Bertie) White Kidd, of Pembroke; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with Pastor Rob Lough and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services.
