White, Jr., Ellwood Stewart

Ellwood Stewart White, Jr., age 85,of McCoy died Monday, January 12, 2015 at Heritage Hall Health Care. He was born in Whitethorne, VA on June 22, 1929 to the late Elwood S., Sr. and Nellie Keister White; and was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette White Whitaker; and two brothers, Ray Lowell White and Harry Eugene White.

Ellwood retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant with 38 years of service; served in the Army 1952-1954 and was a founding member of the Community Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dana McCoy White of McCoy; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita W. and Steve Lay of Kingsport, TN, Rose W. and Frayne Bentley of Auburn, GA; sons and daughters-in-law Rodney K. and Linda White of Blacksburg, Roger N. and Penny White of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ora Jean White of Plumb Creek; grandchildren, Matthew Lay, Travis White, Jessica Brickey, Brandon White, Parker White; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Community Christian Church with Mr. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Harless Cemetery, Longshop.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Christian Church Missions Fund, PO Box 387, McCoy, VA 24111.

Friends may call anytime after 1:00 pm Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg.
