White, Jean F.

Jean F. White, 77 of Blacksburg passed away January 30, 2014 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Harlan E. White and parents Charles and Lelia Fluharty of Seaford, Delaware. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Joseph R. and daughter-in-law Susan Cockerham White of Galax, VA; and daughter Linda W. Kipps of Blacksburg. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jenna, Allison and Brady White and Mark and Katy Kipps, and sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Bill Petrea of Seaford, Delaware. She was a devoted member of Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Logos Sunday school class and Circle Martha. Jean enjoyed her monthly meetings with the Agronomy wives and also belonged to the Virginia Tech Faculty Women’s Club. She was an avid Hokie fan holding season tickets for over 47 years. As a mother and grandmother, she was a dedicated supporter of her children and grandchildren’s athletic events. Jean loved her Lord, family and friends and was loved by many. She was blessed with special friends and enjoyed playing cards and traveling with them. Jean will be deeply missed and those who knew and loved her take comfort in knowing that she is with her Lord and loving husband, Harlan in Heaven. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 3, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Blacksburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 pm at the church before the service.
