Whitaker, Cecil McNeil

Cecil McNeil Whitaker, age 96, of McCoy died, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Heritage Hall. He was born in Montgomery County, VA on October 24, 1921 to the late Sidney A. and Elizabeth Albert Whitaker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Violet Scott Whitaker; his infant brother, Calvin; three brothers, Carmen, Clifford and Carson Whitaker and his stepmother, Lettie Whitaker.

Cecil was a founding member of Community Christian Church where he served in many capacities. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Shirley Whitaker; brother, Charlie Whitaker; sister, Barbara McMahan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Whitaker, Rubye Scott; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Christian Church with Mr. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Albert-Scott Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community Christian Church, P.O. Box 387, McCoy, VA 24111 or to Blue Ridge Christian Camp, P. O. Box 428, McCoy, VA 24111. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
