Whisman, James Harvey

James Harvey Whisman, 88, of Narrows, Va., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at St. Mary’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, Tenn. He was born in Cresmont, Ky., on June 14, 1921, and was the son of the late Bluford Lutz and Mary Burns Brown Whisman. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Hassen Whisman; three brothers; and a sister. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Jim Whisman, of Roanoke, and David Whisman, of Dandridge, Tenn.; a grandson, Jeffrey Whisman, of Beckley, W.Va.; and three great-grandchildren. At Harvey’s request, burial will be private, and there will be no viewing or visitation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 609 Wolf Street, Narrows, Va. 24124.
