wheeling_buford_oaleyBuford Oakley Wheeling, 71, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at home with his family by his side. He was born in Fagg, Va., on October 5, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Oakley and Macie Bryant Wheeling; sisters, Helen Trump, Edith Gillespie, Reba Scott, Treva Martin, and Maxie Allen; and a grandson, J.P. Fisher. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Wheeling; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Kinzer, Brenda Fisher, Gail and Darrell Custer, and Vicki and Lindsey Akers; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Amanda Wheeling; sister, Christine Akers; brothersin-law and sisters-in-law, Butch and Bonnie Blount, and Charlotte and Norman Hungate; grandchildren, Jonathan Custer and wife, Ashley, Jamie Custer, and Shane and Allison Akers; great-grandchildren, Lee, Joseph, Damion, Victoria, Hunter, Micah, Hallie, Angel and Lilah; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was proud of growing up in Fagg, Va., then went on to work at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant retiring after 30 years of service. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, March 26, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and the Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery, Fagg, Va. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va.
