Mildred was born in Ironto, VA on February 21, 1928 and spent most of her life in these mountains that she loved. She graduated from Shawsville High School in 1947. Before marrying she worked at the Blue Ridge Overall Factory in Christiansburg. After marrying Stanley, she stayed at home to raise her children. Her love for her husband and all her family was abundant. After her children were grown, she treasured visits from them and the grandchildren, leaving many memories of summer days spent at their home enjoying the simple things in life such as picking blackberries and going on walks. As she aged, Mildred continued to enjoy spending time with her family, drives in the mountains, blackberry cobbler, country music, her daily walks, and her very special church and bible study family. She will be remembered for her zest for life, sense of humor, and love for the Lord.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 AM at Halls United Methodist Church, 4302 North Fork Road, Elliston, VA, officiated by Pastor Brenda Sternfeld. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service starts. A meal will be provided after.
