Mae Stone Wheeler, 87, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Bassett, Va., on February 10, 1924, and was the daughter of the late George William and Gracie Hall Stone.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucy Collier, Susan Wade, Iris Price, Eula Garland; and a brother, Irvin Stone.

Mae was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, and taught many years in both the Bedford and Giles County school systems.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Kendall W. Wheeler; a son, Dr. Kyle W. Wheeler and wife, Kimberly, of Forest, Va.; a daughter, Dianne W. Kindlick and husband, Thomas, of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Emily, and Richard Wheeler, and Cameron Kindlick; a sister-in- law, Jean B. Wheeler, of Bedford, Va.; a brother-in-law, the Rev. William Price, of Chesterfield, Va.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Brad Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.
