Wheeler, Iris Eastburn
Iris Eastburn Wheeler, 91 of Narrows, departed this life on Sunday, October 9th, 2016 at Heritage Hall in Rich Creek. She was born in Oakvale, West Virginia on July 31st, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Wirt Lee and Sarah Catherine Crawford Eastburn.
In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jefferson Wheeler; a son, Steven Wayne Wheeler; a sister, Ruby White; three brothers, David, Thomas and Norman Eastburn.
Iris was a longtime faithful member of Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church on Wolf Creek, and served in the VFW Post #6000 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Glonda Jennings and husband Roger of Rich Creek; a stepson, Samuel Wheeler and wife Brenda of Narrows; seven grandchildren, Chad Pruett, Matthew Jennings, Austin Jennings, Sabrina Wheeler, Michael Wheeler and wife Lisa, Sheri Jennings-Kosgei, and husband Alex Sang, Brittani Jennings-Quigley and husband Evan; seven great-grandchildren, Alexandra Kosgei, Jennings Kosgei, Mackenzie Quigley, Kayle Murray, Jessica Lung, Allison Wheeler, Brandon Williams; a great-great grandchild, Raelynn Murray; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 12th, 2016 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Betsy Switzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakvale Cemetery at Oakvale, West Virginia. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Chapel Wednesday from 11 AM until just prior to the service.
