Wheary, Marion Ruth Rayburn

Marion Ruth Rayburn Wheary, age 92, of Blacksburg died, Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Pulaski Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Pearisburg, VA. on June 4, 1922 to the late Hugh Smith and Iva Hutchison Rayburn. She was preceded in death by two sisters Edna Harris, Dolly Ironside and her beloved son-in-law, Bobby Joe Long.

She was a lifetime member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church and a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family and her dogs. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Bruce Fugate, of Blacksburg, Cassie Long, Longshop, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jeannie Price, of Christiansburg, Lloyd and Carol Price, Cary, N.C., Douglas and Dianne Price, Stoney Creek, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg with the Rev. Bill King officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a reception at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church 600 Prices Fork Rd., Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3959 Electric Road, Suite 357, Roanoke, VA., 24018 or to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN. 38105. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW., Blacksburg.
