Weschke, Johanna Gertrud

Johanna “Hanna” Gertrud Weschke, 97, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at New River Valley Medical Center. Hanna was a pediatric nurse in Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1955 with her husband, Volker and son, Frank. Bert and Helga were born in the U.S. She baked pastries and was an Avon representative for many years. And in later years she had her own business creating and selling crafts and plants. Hanna was an avid gardener and loved to work in her flower beds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Gertrud Boehme; husband, Volker Wolf Weschke; and son, Frank Weschke.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bert Weschke (Dagmar); daughter and son-in-law, Helga Weschke (Vernon Thompson); grandchildren, Erica, Kira (Jay), Leona, Lillian and Wolf; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Aubrie.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Christ Lutheran Church of Radford.
