Weikle, Monica Masella
Monica Masella Weikle of Peterstown, WV, passed away on July 5, 2022, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, surrounded by her family at the age of 54 years old. She was preceded in death by her mother Christa Haas Masella and her father-in-law Eugene Richardson Weikle.
She was born in Spring Lake Heights, NJ, on January 6th, 1968. She moved to Alderson, WV, at the age of 8 and then to Peterstown, WV, when she was a freshman in high school. She attended Peterstown High School where she met the love of her life and husband of 35 years, Elwyn Eugene Weikle. They had two children, Brennen Elwyn and Brooklyn Elizabeth. Monica attended Concord College and went on to work in the pharmacy and medical field most of her life. Monica would often say she didn’t have any hobbies, but she spent her time doing what she loved most, being a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. She was selfless and always put her family first. Her children were truly her world. She made a huge impact in the lives of so many people, always with a smile and a kind word. She genuinely cared for others and her life was a testament to that.
She is survived by her husband Elwyn Weikle of Peterstown, WV. A son Brennen and his fiancé Tarah Myers and son Pacey of Narrows, VA. Daughter Brooklyn and her fiancé Tyler Kelley of Narrows, VA. Her father Jack Masella Sr. of Peterstown and mother-in-law Betty Weikle also of Peterstown. A brother Jack Masella Jr. and wife Mary of Delray Beach, FL, and their son Connor of Norman, OK. And a multitude of extended family.
We will never forget her courageous fight and will to live. She faced the unthinkable with a resolve that surpassed all understanding. She never complained and would continually apologize when asking anyone for help even in her sickest moments. She left a legacy of love behind and an example for all of us to follow by loving each other more. We will never forget her contagious smile and her beautiful blue eyes will live in our hearts forever.

I send my warmest sympathy to Monica’s family. I knew her from Walmart being the most kind warm person that ever graced the isles of an establishment. She helped me find things an d went to different parts of the store to get them for me as I don’t get around very well. She will be missed greatly. Always a smile.
