Webb, Elmer “Spud” Lane
Elmer “Spud” Lane Webb, 97 of Roanoke, formerly of Floyd, passed away Friday, January 01, 2016. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army receiving a Purple Heart while serving in Germany. He retired from Kenrose and Halmode Apparel. He returned back to Floyd to the family farm to farm the land his parents George C. and Elitha Brimm Webb had purchased in 1922.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Treatise M. Webb; parents, George C. and Elitha Webb; brothers, Harry Webb, Early Webb, twin brother, Delmer “Buster” Webb and George C. Webb, Jr.; sisters, Odell Graham and Bertha Schoolcraft.
He is survived by sisters, Claudine Browning (Joe), and Nettie W. Brown; caregiver and niece, Shelia Flick (Mike); sisters-in-law, Mavin Steele (Jack) and Coreen Martin; brother-in-law, Arlie Thompson, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Salem Primitive Baptist Church (Head of the River) with Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. The interment will follow in the Restvale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Maberry Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to The Paynes Creek Primitive Baptist Church, C/O Karen Link, 610 Kellys Drive SE, Floyd, VA 24091.
