webb_david_leonDavid Leon (Smoke) Webb, 66, of Pulaski, departed this life on Monday, May 30, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 17, 1944, in Pulaski, Va., to the late Moses and Virginia Webb. David was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Webb and Moses Webb Jr.; and five sisters, Yvonne Black, Drema Curbean, Elizabeth Tyler, Della Rembrandt and Arvella Smith. Those left to cherish his gift of love and companionship are his wife, Hazel B. Webb; four daughters, Shelia (Danny) Simmons, Banika Bolden, and Chasity Brown, all of Pulaski, Va., and LaShonda (Marvin) Craigmeyer, of Knoxville, Tenn.; five sons, David (Carla) Webb, of Richmond, Va., Darnell (Lisa) Webb, Darrell Webb, and Michael Brown, all of Pulaski, Va., and Derrick Webb, of Knoxville, Tenn.; four brothers, Clarence (Ruth) Webb, of Dublin, Va., Alvin Webb, of Jersey City, N.J., Robert Webb, of Elizabeth City, N.J., and Jim Webb, of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Bruce and Margaret Thompson, of Pulaski, Va., and Edith Fuqua, of South Brunswick, N.J. David also will be missed by a host of grand, great-grand and greatgreat-grandchildren; and a mass of nieces, nephews and friends. David was a member of the Spirit of Life Church. He was a founding member of “The True Tones Band” and show, “Little David and the True Tones.” He was one of the first to integrate Pulaski High School. Services will be held at The Spirit of Life Church, 16th Street Extension, Pulaski, Va. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, with Elder Arnold Jones officiating.
