Virginia Gladys Fisher Weaver, 86, of Dublin, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born on November 30, 1923, in Wythe County (Huddle Community), she was the daughter of the late William Reuben Fisher and Effie Blair Fisher.

Her husband, Ralph Wayne Weaver; a daughter, Sharron Effie Weaver Bean; one sister, Mary Ann Fisher Taylor; and two brothers, William Charles Fisher and Giles Jordon Fisher, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the choir, served as a Sunday School Treasurer and held other committee positions through the years. She worked at the Dublin Elementary School as Cafeteria Manager and also worked in the Dublin High School cafeteria for many years. She retired from the Town of Dublin in 1986. Many will remember her working at the crosswalks between the Dublin High School and Dublin Elementary School as a police officer. She also worked in the Mayor’s office and was a secretary for the Dublin Maintenance Department. Mrs. Weaver was a member of the Dublin Garden Club.

Surviving is a daughter, Wain Patilyn “Patsy” Weaver, of Cleveland, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, William Eugene Weaver and Betty Joyce Zimmerman “B.J.” Weaver, of Winter Haven, Fla.; grandsons, William Eugene Weaver II, St. Augustine, Fla., and Christopher Michael Weaver, of Winter Haven, Fla.; granddaughter, Sherry Beatrice Bean Weaver Campbell, of Linden, Va.; great-grandchildren, Madison Alesia Campbell, of Linden, and Eric Weaver and Ethan Weaver, both of St. Augustine, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 7 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Dublin United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church. Interment will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.
