Watson, Elijah David

Elijah David Watson, 84, of Dublin, Va., passed away on October 21, 2007 at the home of his daughter, Jennena Cressell. David was born on September 13, 1923 in Carroll County and was the son of the late Elijah Lee Watson and Lora Sutphin Watson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Russell Watson and Dorsey Watson; by a sister and brothers-in-law, Mary Marshall and Richard Marshall and Benny Isaac Hayes, Sr.

Davis was an avid bluegrass music fan, was a retired employee of RAAP with 35 1/2 years of service, and was a member of the Pulaski Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marie Hayes Watson of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Jennena and Donald L. Cressell of Dublin; grandchildren and spouse, David and Tammy Cressell of Dublin and Kevin Cressell and his girlfriend, Stephanie Webb, of Dublin; special great-grandbabies, Erika Cressell of Dublin and Brea Cressell of Dublin; sister, Stella Watson Hayes of Dublin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Peggy Watson of Hillsville, William and Thelma Watson of Hillsville and Freida Beamer of Ailisonia; brothers-in-law and sistersin-law, Allen and Mildred Barker, Grant and Jean Barker, Jerry and Mae Hayes, Tom and Minnie Hayes, and Harry and Betty Hayes, all of Dublin; numerous nephews and nieces; close special friends, Alien Barker, Johnny Robinson, and Richard (Andy) Hawkes.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Elders Nelson Eilkenburg and Vince MacIssac officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visiting will be Wednesday evening, October 24, 2007 at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Carilion Hospice Services of NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141.
