Junior Buford (J.B.) Warner, 84, of Pulaski, Va., died on Monday, June 28, 2010, at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1925, in Pulaski County, and was the son of the late Joseph David Warner and Margaret Matthews Warner.

He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, was retired from Hercules, Inc., and was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Leonard, Clinton, Fred, Oakley, and Ica. He is survived by and will be missed dearly by his devoted wife of 62 years, Nellie Cox Warner. Also surviving are three loving daughters, Joyce Warner Covey and husband, M.G., of Pulaski, Farron Warner Smith and husband, Bill, of Wytheville, and Ginger Warner Shouse and husband, Larry, of Salem. No man was ever prouder of his grandchildren, who are Whitney Shouse Bonura and husband, Joe, of Newburgh, N.Y., Will Smith. of Charlotte, N.C., Drew Covey and wife, Carrie, of Stuarts Draft, Va., Meredith Shouse, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Casey Smith, of Fort Collins, Colo. Also bringing great pride to him was his great-granddaughter, Isabella, of Newburgh, N.Y.

Mr. Warner loved nothing more than to tell stories of being a veteran of World War II and B29 airplanes. Through the years he was an avid collector of antiques, protector of his family and the community around him. He was a principle player in the development and placement of Memorial Drive.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Memorial Baptist Church, Peppers Ferry Road, Pulaski, with the Rev. David Lones officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where the VFW Post #1184 will conduct Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 31, Pulaski, Va. 24301.
