Walters, Virginia Gerald

Virginia Lee Gerald Walters, 75, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Vicker on January 17, 1938, to the late Garnett S. and Bertha Viars Gerald. She was preceded in death by her son, born and passed on February 14, 1962; and two brothers, Buddy Gerald and Jack Gerald. She was a life member of the Christiansburg Rescue Squad Auxillary, Virginia association of Volunteer Rescue Squad (VAVRS) Auxillary, holding multiple offices with both organizations. She retired from Hubbell Lighting in 2003 after 31 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Kelly Brice Walters; her daughter, Nancy Joanne Walters; her grandson, Bradley Allen Hutcherson; her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Jo Hutcherson; sisters, Helen Atkins, Jane Akers; sisters-in-law, Brenda Thomas, Shirley Bartlett, Jean Walters; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Turner and Grover Nixon officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
