Walters, Mildred E.

Mildred E. Walters, 87, of Salem passed away Monday, July 9, 2007. She was born November 14, 1919 in Floyd County, Va. daughter of the late William C. and Susie L. Boyd Walters.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lilly E. Jenkins, Ora Nolley, and Louise Austin; five brothers, Guy Neil Walters, James Early Walters, Jack Jasper Walters, Everett Walters and Henry Walters; and a niece, Bonnie Kitts.

Mrs. Walters was a retired Nurses Aide, worked at Valleydale for many years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Her surviving family includes two sisters and brother-in-law, Garnette Rose and Gladys and Andrew Agee; sisters-in-law, Beulah Walters and Ina Walters; brother-in-law, Jack Austin; nieces, Carolyn Perdue, Dianne Kelley, Linda Dickerson, Elizabeth Kelly, Barbara Overstreet, Karen Wilson, Hazel Livingston, Deborah Schere, Janet Camper and Phyllis Paulin; and nephews, Michael Austin, Ralph Nolley, Charles Nunnery, Carl William Walters, David Walters, Neil Walters and Carlton Bones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Floyd County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2007 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
