Walters, Maleta Adlene Link
Maleta Adlene Link Walters, 89, of Floyd, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. She was a member of Copper Hill Church of the Brethren where she was a lifetime deaconess and retired Postmaster in Check. She was born in McDowell County, West Virginia the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Mamie Vest Link.
She loved school and was valedictorian of her high school class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delbert Keen Walters, and brother H. C. (Trick) Link. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jean Walters of Radford, Tommy and Linda Walters of Floyd, and Bobby and JoAnn Walters of Hardy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Fred Nichols of Troutville, Etta Mae and Herman Hall of Mechanicsville, Catherine Vest of Floyd, and Pauline Reed of Check; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank several people for their loving care of Mrs. Walters: the kind and loving staff at Skyline Manor, Carolyn McPeak for all the dedication given to our mother, neighbor Hubert Harman for all of his visits, and to all the friends for all their love and prayers.
A Graveside service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Wilson Cemetery in Check with Rev. Marty Moyer and Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Following the service, the family will gather at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren to fellowship with friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, 8838 Floyd Highway North, Copperhill, VA 24079.
