Walters, Edith Lorraine

Edith Lorraine Walters, 85, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital, Pearisburg. She was born on April 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Dewey Shannon and Agnes Chewning Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers Floyd, Herbert, Arnold and Junior Reynolds; and a son, James Allen Perkins.

She was a member of Mt. View United Methodist Church, she worked 22 years as a CNA at Giles Memorial Hospital and with her husband were foster parents for 30 children.

She is survived by her husband, Roy (Bill) Walters; one daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Billy McGuire, of Christiansburg, and their foster children, Johnny Whittaker, Tammy Whittaker and John David Stanley; three sisters, Lillian Perkins, Bula Walters and Marie (Ed) Holt, of Pearisburg; five grandchildren, Diane Lamberth, Kevin Bise, Richie Tedder, Keith Tedder and Stephanie Atkins; nine great- grandchildren; seven stepchildren; and many stepgrandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Mt. View United Methodist Church (Guniea Mt.) with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn and Charles Henderson officiating. Burial in the Mt. View- Anderson Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va., 540-921-2985.
