Dale O. Walters, 80, of Greenwood, Ind., and formerly of Radford, Va., passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008. He was born on September 5, 1928, in Wytheville, Va., to Dale and Manila Walters. Dale served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the State of Indiana Lottery. Dale was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #252. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lois Walters; children, Brent (Terri) Walters, Tim (Ann) Walters, Mary Dale Walters, and Elizabeth W. Holland; grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Walters, Margaret, Caroline, and Tessa Walters, and Shelby Holland; and sister, Thelma Grace (William) Eley. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008, at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, S. State Rd. 135 and Olive Branch Road, Greenwood, Ind. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, 3100 W. Stones Crossing, Greenwood, Ind., with calling there from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Auburn UMC Building Fund.
