Wallace, Robert Morris

Robert Morris (Bob) Wallace, 86, of Pulaski, loving husband and father died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, after a short illness.

He was a life long resident of Pulaski and long time merchant being the proprietor of Bob’s Shoe Center and Wallace’s. Main Street was his second “home.”

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne Bane Wallace; his son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Dianne Wallace; his daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Tim Gress; three grandchildren, Whitney and John Voorhees, Robbie Wallace and Eric Gress; and one greatgrandchild, Lily Anne Voorhees. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Feingold, of New York, and Mrs. Sophie Watson, of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. and Ester Goldstein Wallace; three sisters, Ann W. Anderson, Ida W. Siglin and Evelyn W. Shapiro (Boo).

Bob served as President of the Merchant’s council and served a term on the Pulaski Town Council. He was a fifty year member of the Elks Club, a former member of the Rotary Club and member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. Some may remember his orchestra in his younger days, Bob Wallace and the Southwest Virginians.

A Celebration in Life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday June 8, 2008, from the First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson Ave., Pulaski with the Rev. Jeff Kackley officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to either the First Presbyterian Church or the Pulaski County Humane Society. Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
