Wallace, Alice O’Neill
Alice O’Neill, (Lolly) Wallace, 92, formerly of Christiansburg, and residing at 208 Cooper Lane, Christiansburg, Va., died on Sunday, November 9, 2008. She lived in Pulaski for 14 years with her daughter and son-in-law; Martha and Carlos Akers Jr., of Pulaski.
Mrs. Wallace battled Alzheimer’s since September 17, 1987. She worked for over 39 years for Blue Ridge Overall Factory in Christiansburg. She cared for her mother, Mary O’Neill, for many years.
She is the last of her parents, brothers and sisters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Forest Hawley. Survivors also include her grandson and his wife, Jeff and Angela Akers, of Christiansburg; greatgrandchildren, Courtney, Chris and Killian; grandson and his wife, Carlos and Lisa Akers Jr., of Christiansburg; greatgrandchildren, Jermeiah, Rebecca and Abby; grandson and his wife, Donald and Pam Akers, of Christiansburg; greatgrandchildren, Tony and Brandon; her daughter, Katherine Umberson, of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Carolyn Johnson, Jimmie Smith and Lisa and Gary Jackson, all of Texas; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Stacy, Shawn, Ryan and Dustin. She is also survived by her nephews, Danny Thornton and Dewayne Thornton, both of Christiansburg.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shake Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
