Walker, Ruth Phillips

Ruth Odell Phillips Walker passed away peacefully Thursday morning, February 14, 2019, at her home in Fairlawn, Va. She was born on November 14, 1933, in Lerona, W.Va.

We have lost a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who went out of her way to make the lives of everyone around her richer and more fulfilling. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, George Anderson Walker; her sister, Maud Crews, True, W.Va.; by her three children and their spouses, Brad & Jody Walker, Advance, N.C., Mike (“Randy”) & Cathy Walker, Fairlawn, Va. and Donna & Michael Johnston, Radford, Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2019 at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Chaplain Robbie Vance, Medi Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow in Morning Star Cemetery, Bland, Va., the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, February 17, 2019. The Walker family is in the care of A.
