Donald Lee Waldron, Sr., of Peterstown, WV and formerly of Narrows, departed this life Thursday evening, January 30, 2014 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Pearisburg on February 23, 1948, he was a son of the late Donald Eugene and Virginia Frances Busic Waldron.

Donald was retired from the U S Army with the rank of Captain after a twenty year career, and from the Giles County School System where her was a High School Career Counselor and taught in the Vocational School, also in Stafford Virginia; and coordinated the Jobs Programs in Giles County. He earned his PhD from Virginia Tech, was a life member of the NRA, a member of the American Legion, had been a member of the Narrows Lions Club, and Giles County Business Association. He attended Riverview Baptist Church and when he retired opened up and operated Mt. Sporting Goods in Narrows.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lisa Ganoe Hollowell. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Peggy Allen Wladron; his sons Donald Lee Waldron, Jr. of Ruther Glen, VA, Jason Paul Rucker of Chicago, IL, Christopher Lee Rucker of Oskaloosa, Iowa; his daughter Ciara Leigh Waldron of Radford, VA; his brother Kenneth S. Ganoe of Johnston City, TN; his sisters Margie Journell and husband Larry of Pearisburg, Debbie Ganoe of Narrows, Melissa Bowyer of Virginia Beach; his three grandchildren.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2;00 pm at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
