William Bruce Wade, 81, of Floyd, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Skyline Manor Nursing Home and Rehab into his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Kyle and Ima Wade, and one brother, Harry Marvin Wade.

Bruce was honorably discharged from the United States Army, and retired from the National Park Service at Rocky Knob after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nelva and Calvin Gardner, Floyd; Betty and Bob Hower, Lewis, Del.; one sister-in-law, Mary Edith Wade, Floyd; one nephew and his spouse, Clyde Jr. and Becky Smythers, Blacksburg; two nieces, Nita Dawn Harris, Christiansburg; Sherry and Wayde Naylor, Middletown, Del.; several cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roy Turpin and the Reverend Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow at Topeco Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Floyd V.F.W. Post # 7854 and Floyd American Legion Post # 127. Friends may call at Gardner Funeral Home Friday after 11:00 a.m. where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Floyd V.F.W. Post # 7854.

The family expresses their gratitude for the care provided by the staff at Skyline Manor Nursing Home, Dr. L.V. Marshall and Gardner Funeral Home.
