Wade, Lowell Scott

L. Scott Wade, 52, of Blacksburg, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013. He is preceded in death by his mother, Carole Hawley Wade; mother-in-law, Delores Gardner; and beloved grandparents.

He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife of 25 years, Melodee Gardner Wade; and two loving children, Meaghan Elizabeth and Haden Bryce. Other survivors include father, Lowell E. Wade and wife, Jeanette; brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Wanda Wade; and niece, Ellie; aunt, Freda W. Teel; cousin, Sarah T. Crawford and husband, Steve. He is also survived by his wife’s family, including father-in-law, Thomas Gardner; brother-in-law, W. Lewis Gardner II and wife, Julie; niece, Kara Gardner; and nephew, Ryan Gardner.

With incredible gratitude, he had the opportunity to share in many great memories with Doug and Bea Jones. He leaves behind a great community of dear friends and colleagues. He had a great love for all those he met, except politicians, and even those he tolerated with grace. He loved to talk and anyone he met was not a stranger for long. A self-sacrificing man, he went above and beyond for his loved ones. An avid golfer and bowler, he treasured time spent with his pals. His love for animals was profound, never hesitating to add another pet to the family.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Christiansburg.

Flowers are greatly appreciated, however in keeping with Scott’s spirit of generosity; the family also welcomes donations to the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP).
