Kay Jennings Waddell, age 58, of the Claytor Lake area, went Home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2014 after a hard-fought war with cancer. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Lillian Jennings.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 38 years, Steve Waddell, whom Kay absolutely adored; and two beloved, precious daughters, Dr. Erin Waddell of Springfield, VA, and Paige Waddell of Johnson City, TN. Other survivors include brothers Dennis Jennings and Lloyd Jennings; mother-in-law Nancy Waddell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; along with many faithful friends, church friends, work friends, and special neighbors.

Kay attended Mountain View United Methodist Church all of her life. She enjoyed working at Radford University where she was employed in full- and part-time positions for 37 years, most recently as secretary for the History Department. Kay was under the compassionate care of Dr. Harry McCoy and Nurse Vonda, along with the rest of his skilled and kind-hearted staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care in Blacksburg, VA.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Goshorn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
