Lima B. Vires, 86, of Pulaski, and formerly of Kalamazoo, Michigan died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Radford. She was born August 20, 1924 in Graysontown (Montgomery County) and was the daughter of the late Ephraim Gleen Vires and Elizabeth Ada Stone Vires. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Vires Carroll Moxley, Ellamae Vires Hedge, Lillian Rose Vires King and Elsie June Vires Boothe. Mrs. Vires went to work at Upjohn on March 15, 1948 where she worked for 39 years. She retired from Upjohn on August 31, 1987. She received the Upjohn Award in 1982 which was a high honor in the Upjohn company. Not many are selected for this award and was one of the high lights on her life. Lima lived in Kalmazoo, Mich. since March 1948 with John and Harriett Evans and their family of children and spouses, Betsy and Ron Lang, Nancy and Owen Goslin and Richard and Barbara Evans, godchildren and spouse, Fritz and Beth Lang and Jennifer Lang and by other family, Owen and Shihoka Goslin and Meg Goslin. Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Carrie V. and Roy Hurt Jr.; special niece and caregiver, Virginia Louise King Ezzell; other nieces and nephews, James T. King, Travis D. King, Betty Ann Boothe, Carl Boothe, June Boothe Cadel, Foley Hurt, Brenda Ann King Castro, Teresa Dowdy and her husband, Charles; great-nieces and great-nephews, Virginia Ann Ezzell, Robert Ezzell, James King, Tracy K. Olson, Kelly King, Amanda King, Brittany King, Diana and Wesley Dowdy, Daniel Hurt and Jamie Hurt; great-great-nieces and nephews, Branden King, Breann King, Joseph David Ezzell.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Tuesday from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the service hour.
