Joseph Gary Vipperman, 68, passed away January 14, 2020 after a 10-year battle with dementia. Gary was greeted in heaven by his parents, Raymond and Wilda Vipperman and his in-laws, Tom and Florence McCraw.

His life is being celebrated by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Brenda Seagle Vipperman; his three children, Joseph (Jenny) Vipperman, Laura (Josh) Arritt, and Jenny (Kirk) Mitchell; two step-sons, Alan (Missy) Seagle and Christopher (Katie) Seagle; nine grandchildren Noah and Lila Vipperman; Cora, Benjamin, and William Arritt; Cody (Haley) Seagle, Brooke Seagle and fiancee Dustin Adams, Erica Seagle, and Carter Seagle; sisters, Eleanor Stovall, Janet Clark, Janie (Jimmy) Lankford, JoAnn (Dr. William) Brothers; brothers, Donnie Vipperman, Buddy (Edie) Vipperman; Sisters-in-law Bonnie (David) Quesenberry, Wanda McCraw; brother-in-law, Rick (Marlene) McCraw; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Gary was a gentle, soft-spoken man who loved his Lord, his family, and his many friends. He was proud to have been born and raised in Stuart, Virginia. He graduated Stuart High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Virginia Tech. He settled in Pulaski, Virginia where he worked in sales and management and was an active member of New Life Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed long, Sunday rides on his Harley; visiting family and friends; taking trips to visit his family homestead in Stuart, and could often been seen taking long walks around town.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pulaski Adult Day Service for helping care for Gary while he was home; the staff at Commonwealth Senior Living, Radford for making a second home and family for Gary for the last two and a half years; and the nurses and staff at Intrepid Hospice for providing excellent care for him until he passed.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 7:00 p.m., January 16, 2020 in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Desmond Barrett and Pastor Julie Armbrister officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., January 16, 2020 before service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow Friday 2:00 p.m., January 17, 2020 at Patrick Memorial Gardens, 20937 Jeb Stuart Highway, Stuart, VA.24171(Patrick County)

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Gary’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400 McLean, Virginia 22102.
