Vicars, Warren Harding
Warren Harding Vicars, 85, of Radford, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Highland Ridge Nursing Home.
He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from Clover Creamery. He is preceded in death by his parents, William P. and Nora Moss Barnett Vicars; brothers, Russell Vicars, George Vicars and Arnold Vicars, all of Dante.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Roxie Compton Vicars, of Radford; three sons and daughtersin-law, Leon and Pam Vicars, of Tucson, Ariz., and Radford, Wayne and Vicki Vicars, of Greenville, S.C., and Warren Harding Vicars Jr. and his girlfriend, Pam, of Radford; two daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Marie Vicars and special friend, Doug Grantham, and Betty and Jimmy Covey, all of Radford; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a dear devoted friend and caregiver who could bring laughter and smiles to Daddy, Doug Grantham.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Highland Ridge for the excellent care and love that they showed our Daddy and thanks to a special nurse, Melissa Broyles, who took genuine care and loved Daddy wholeheartedly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Ersel Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, January 12, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 325 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Va.
