VIARS, Drew Allen

Drew Allen Viars, 34, of McCoy, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at his home. He was born in Radford, Va. on November 29, 1971 and was preceded in death by his father, Homer Buford Viars and grandfather’s, Hobert Duane McCoy and Raymond Viars.

Drew was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Dowdy Viars of McCoy; mother and stepfather, Sharon Lynn McCoy and Frank Wilkins of Fairlawn; daughter, Hannah Leigh Viars; son, Devon Allen Viars, both of the home; and his faithful Jack Russells’ “Sadie” and “BooBoo”; sister and brother-in-law, Melinda Lynn and Steve Slusser of Blacksburg; grandmother, Melita McCoy of McCoy; mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Hamblin of Christiansburg; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Bert and Jessie Dowdy of Blacksburg; brothers-in-law, Michael Dowdy and Clayton Dowdy, both of Blacksburg; sister-in-law, Anita G. Ayers of Max Meadows; aunts and uncles, Joel D. and Cinda McCoy, Sarah M. and Claude Kenley, both of McCoy; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Family Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Price and Mr. James O. Flaugher officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoy Family Cemetery, McCoy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Fund, c/o Christine Viars, 2269 Big Vein Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
