Via, Joanne Altizer

Joanne Altizer Via, 66, of Floyd, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015. She was born to the late Shelor and Juanita Altizer on October 11, 1948. She was a 35-year employee of Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery where she met many friends and touched the lives of so many people.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Via; her daughter, Rebeca Ann Hamlin; sister, Linda Gilmore; and brother, Bobby Altizer.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Mary Ann Hamlin, Floyd; son and daughter-in law, Jerry and Mechelle Hamlin, Floyd; grandchildren, Michael, Chealsea, Joey, Savanna, Kevin, Devin and Leah; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Cassidy, Lexi, Isaac and soon to be born, Aiden; brothers, Guy “Peanut” Altizer, Billy Altizer, Eddie Altizer; and her dear friend, Virginia Rakes. She also loved and cherished her pets, Buffy, Sophie, Toby, Molly and Petey (Mary’s Bird).

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Shepherd and the Rev. Jube Burk officiating with interment at Topeco Cemetery. Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home.
