Via, Florence Hill

Florence Hill Via, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Heritage Hall in Rich Creek, VA. Born March 21, 1933, in Oakvale, WV, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Effie Cecil Hill.

Florence was a member of the Lindside Christian Church. She worked as a seamstress for Giles Manufacturing and Maidenform. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Via; one brother, George Hill; and two sisters, Catherine Moorehead and Agnes Nunley. Survivors include one son, Wayne Via and companion Lynn Parcell Akers of Land O’ Lakes, FL; one daughter, Joyce Ann Fox and husband Bill of Narrows, VA; one brother, Everette Hill, Jr. and wife Frances of Rich Creek, VA; four grandchildren, Lee Snidow and wife Elaine, Angela Via-Rogers and husband Phillip, Brian Snidow and fiancé Karen Harris, and Chris Via; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Ministers Tony Reed and Dan Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Bozoo, WV. Friends may call from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601).
