Vest, Richard Wade

Richard Wade Vest, 77, of Walterboro, S.C., and formerly of Check, Va., passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Colleton Medical Center, Walterboro, S.C.

Richard was born August 28, 1930, in Roanoke, Va., son of the late Wade and Beulah Vest, Check, Va. He was a graduate of Check High School and an Army Veteran. He was a retired Heavy equipment mechanic working in Maryland and Washington, D.C., areas.

Surviving are a twin brother, Ray S. Vest; and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and David Huff, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; nephews, Chris, Mike and Gary Huff, of Blackshear, Ga.; also an uncle and aunts, Horace Vest, Allie Vest and Audrey Lee, of Check, Va., and Allene Sweeney, of Salem, Va. Other family members surviving are Donna Ballenger and Shawn McCann, of Florida, and Gary McCann, of Maryland.

The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Restvale Cemetery, Copper Hill, Va., with Pastor Dan Walker officiating and Military Honors by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127.
