Phyllis “Wanda” McClaugherty VestPhyllis “Wanda” McClaugherty Vest, 86, of Narrows passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Springfield Center Nursing Home, Lindside, WV, after a long illness. Born October 1, 1932 in McAlpin, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hale and Daisy Dunn McClaugherty. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband Frank Carl Vest, her brother, Roy McClaugherty, and two sons Brian Keith Vest and Alan Wayne Vest.

Wanda graduated from Narrows High School in 1951. She briefly worked outside the home at Celanese corporation in Narrows before starting her family and then spent the rest of her life as a mother, grandmother, farmer, homemaker and wife.

She was a member of the New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church in Staffordsville, VA, where she faithfully attended until her health began to fail her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving son Erwin “Earl” Vest and wife Linda of Albuquerque, NM; son Loyd Dean Vest and wife Cindy of Lindside, WV; a beloved brother Hubert McClaugherty of Narrows, VA; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, as well as many others.

Visitation will be held at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, May 9th and Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2019, at the funeral home, with Rev. Paul Broyles, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Peterstown, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (www.alzfdn.org) or the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
