On Friday, March 9, 2012, as we held her hands and said, “We love you,” Ada Josephine (Jo) Akers Vest, 80, of Shawsville, left on her eternal journey to join her husband, Teddy Jewel (TR) and other family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories are her son and caretaker, Teddy Ray Vest; and her babies, Jake and Cash. Other survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Dayton Vest, Christiansburg; sisters, Juanita Underwood, Beverly, W.Va. and Carol McMahan, Peterstown, W.Va.; brother, Charles (CW) Akers, Knocksville, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Virginia Burchette and Florence Amos, Roanoke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Edna and Melvin Lutz, Salem, and Nancy and Martin Gallimore, New Castle; and special nieces, Cortni, Britni and Milli. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A remembrance of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Horne Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil McHone and Mr. C. W. Akers officiating. Interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville. Online condolences may be left at www.hornefuneralservice.com.
