James Dayton Vest, 91, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014. He was born on November 27, 1922, in Floyd. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army, was a longtime member of the Christiansburg V.F.W., was a brick mason and a member of the Christiansburg Church of the Nazarene.

Dayton is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Vest; children, Gene Vest, Bobby (Julie) Vest, Randy (Debbie) Vest, Patti (Bob) Montgomery, and Teresa Hughes; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a brother Edgar Vest.

The family would like to suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Boothe officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Horne Funeral Home.
